About Bill Devoy
I started hardstone sculpting in 2008 after working in the signs and graphics industry.
Having had a long interest in art and design, exhibiting and selling paintings in NZ and Australia, I found I enjoyed the process of working in the 3 dimensional form.
Working in all types of hard stone, my works contain a mix of realism and contemporary. Drawing inspiration from my love of nature, particularly birds, being a focus of many of my works. Also intrigued by the human form and spirituality as shown in my portrait work.
As I learn more about the different rocks and techniques, my work is evolving and I enjoy the challenge that it brings. I also enjoy travelling to different parts of the country exploring the coastline, bush and rivers to source the rocks I use. Sometimes the shape of the rock determines the final sculpture and other times I shape the rock to get the design I want.
I work mainly to commission and have pieces in public and private collections.

Contact / Commission enquiry
I welcome commissions from throughout New Zealand, creating unique stone sculptures for private collectors, gardens, schools, businesses and public spaces.
A commissioned sculpture can be developed around a particular subject, location, story or idea, with the choice of stone, scale and form considered specifically for the environment in which the finished work will be displayed.
If you have an idea for a sculpture, contact me to discuss your project.
